Brazil
Brazil's strong tourism industry is driving interest in and demand for real estate. Destinations such as Fortaleza and Rio de Janeiro, which are popular with tourists, are experiencing strong demand. Rio de Janeiro is a bustling city with a strong beach culture. This city is also famous for its Carnival that ends on Mardi Gras Tuesday and its giant statue of Christ the Redeemer. Rio's economy has been on a roll, as has its real estate sector. In Fortaleza, 30% of the property is being sold to foreign buyers.
Despite these trends, Brazil does have some restrictions on foreign property, including restrictions to certain areas and property sizes. Approval from the Brazilian government is required in order to acquire property as is a tax registration number.
