Mexico

While the US real estate market is slowing, the story is much different across the border in Mexico where many American are flocking to in search of vacation dream homes. Foreigners can own property in Mexico through a bank trust that holds the trust deed for the purchaser. The buyer retains all ownership rights and may sell, lease, mortgage or transfer the property to heirs. Mexico has experienced massive build-out of its coastal areas with luxury homes and exclusive resorts dotting the coastline. Canadians and Europeans have recently been joining American buyers in snatching up these properties.
